The Houding team, supported by an enthusiastic and committed group of friends, hosts various fund raising events for our beneficiary, Just The One Foundation (JTOF).
The Houding Team and JTOF’s members believe passionately that just one person can make a difference and that together we are unstoppable. The mandate is to educate South Africa’s youth and secure a viable future for our country.
The Houding Invitational was established in June 2011, when the Directors of Just The One Foundation (JTOF), realised that they needed to raise an additional R6,500 to achieve the goal of educating their first pupil, who was set to start grade 8 in 2012.
On debut, the Houding Invitational hosted just 4 four balls at the Parys Golf & Country Estate, raised exactly R6,600 and became JTOF’s largest benefactor.
This event is held annually at the Parys Golf & Country estate, is now in its sixth year and hosts 23 fourballs.
The Houding Fine Spirits Festival (HFSF) was established in 2012 and has developed into a wonderful evening, where friends meet and learn about the intricacies of fine spirits and the distillation process.
This event is traditionally held in July, when the chill of winter calls for a snifter of the distinguished golden liquid that we affectionately call “Brandy”.
We have made use of a number of venues over the years to host this festival:
- In 2012 our venue was Higher Ground, which boasts beautiful vistas over St Stithian’s College and the Sandton CBD.
- In 2013 we used Chicago’s Piano Bar and leveraged their lively venue for our “Roaring 20’s” theme.
- In 2014 we hosted the HFSF at Higher Ground with “A Day at the Races” dress code.
- In 2015 the HFSF was held at Open in the Main Change building in the Maboneng Precinct. We embraced a Scottish theme to enjoy some superb South African and Scottish Whiskeys and to wear our favourite tartans.
- In 2016 we have again selected Open as our venue of choice for the HFSF, with our “Oooh la la…Fabulously French!” theme.
